City of South Lake Tahoe elections this fall; Filing period starts Monday

Voter will be voting for three City Council members, the City Clerk and City Treasurer on the November 4th ballot in South Lake Tahoe. The filing period opens on Monday, July 14 for all interested City residents who are interested in running for the open seats.
The terms of Council members Angela Swanson, Tom Davis and Brooke Laine will end this fall as well as that of City Clerk Susan Alessi and Treasurer David Olivo.
The November election will be held jointly with the El Dorado County Elections Department. Voters will also be choosing South Tahoe Public Utility District Board members and El Dorado County Supervisors at that time.
he filing period closes on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 5:00 PM.; however, if an incumbent fails to file his or her nomination papers by August 8, 2014, the filing period will be expanded for five (5) days, ending on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
All interested persons must be a registered voter and reside within the City of South Lake Tahoe at the time nomination papers are issued.
The City of South Lake Tahoe does not have a filing fee. However, there is a charge for candidates who wish to file and have printed a Candidate Statement in the sample ballot. The fee, determined by the El Dorado County Registrar of Voters, is $335 for English and $431 for Spanish.
Nomination papers can be obtained at the City Clerkâs Office located at 1901 Airport Road, South Lake Tahoe, California. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The last day to register to vote for the November 4, 2014 election is Monday, October 20, 2014.
