Obama White House appoints Tim Carlson to Lake Tahoe Regional Planning Agency governing board

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is pleased to welcome Tim Carlson as the new Presidential Appointee to TRPA’s 15-member Governing Board.
Carlson brings with him more than 40 years of government and business development experience to the non-voting seat on the Governing Board. His out-of-the-box business style has resulted in the development of many public/private partnerships and business-to-business joint ventures.

Carlson’s experience in commercialization and technology transfer resulted in the creation of hundreds of new businesses in Nevada, where he was appointed by six former Governors to various industry boards. His most recent work in the field of renewable energy has earned him recognition as an alternative energy leader. As a result, he has ownership in several renewable energy companies dealing with various types of technologies such as wind, solar and ethanol developed from carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.

“The President has appointed someone with the background and experience needed to help TRPA and the Governing Board forge ahead into the future,” said TRPA Executive Director Joanne S. Marchetta. “Tim comes with a vast amount of environmental and development expertise, and a long history with Tahoe having lived first part and now full-time in the Basin.”

A Nevada resident, Carlson has successfully worked with more than 1,000 domestic and worldwide companies, often bringing together diverse groups of stakeholders. He was instrumental in creating a change in Nevada’s banking regulations that opened the door for major financial institutions to initiate credit card operations which then located in Nevada including Citibank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Ford Credit, Household Finance and First Card Services. Well over 50,000 new jobs were created in Nevada due to this effort.

“I am looking forward to learning and working with the Board and staff to help accomplish the goals of the TRPA and the people it serves,” Carlson stated. ” It is my hope that I can contribute along-side those that have put so much time and energy into protecting our beautiful Lake Tahoe.”
