Steph Curry loses bet, jumps into Lake Tahoe

STATELINE, Nev. – For the second consecutive year a Curry lost a bet and went swimming in Lake Tahoe after the American Century Championship.

But this time is wasn't Dell Curry.

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry enjoyed it in 2017 when his dad, former NBA player Dell Curry, jumped into Lake Tahoe after losing a head-to-head bet in the tournament.

This year, it was dad Dell who got the last laugh.

The younger Curry, who gave his dad a 20-point cushion for the bet in this modified Stableford event, nearly holed out for birdie from about 140 yards on the final hole at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on Sunday. The birdie would have tied it, but the tap-in par meant a total of 50 points for Steph – dad finished with 32 – and it was his turn to take a dip.

Minutes later he took his shoes off and he and his caddie, Bryant Barr, a teammate of Steph Curry’s at Davidson College, jumped into Tahoe and swam to a nearby boat where they took a few minutes of sanctuary.

Once he emerged, he had the same thing to say about Tahoe that his dad did earlier in the day in remembering his 2017 dip. But Steph, who in June helped the Warriors win their third NBA title in four years, added one detail.

“It was pretty cold, but actually it was refreshing,” he said. “I just don’t want to go in ever again.”
