Mark Mulder repeats as American Century Golf Champion

On Sunday, former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder became the first back-to-back winner at the American Century Golf Championship at Edgewood Tahoe since Rick Rhoden accomplished the feat in 2008 and 2009.

Coming from 5 points off the lead on Saturday, Mulder won the annual championship by 5 with the Modified Stableford scoring they use in the tournament. Second place finisher, tennis player Mardy Fish, missed a 12-foot putt for eagle on the 18th hole which would have forced a playoff.

Mulder takes home a trophy and $125,000 for his efforts. Fish, $60,000.

Mulder, always a starting pitcher and never a closer, sealed the deal Sunday without ever looking at the scoreboard and racking up birdies. He ended the tournament with a 74 with a round of 29, just off the tournament best of 33.

During Saturday's press conference, Mulder said he was comfortable being 5 points behind leader Fish since that is exactly where he was last year heading into the final day of play.

Actor Jack Wagner, the leader after Friday's round, ended up in third with a 67, enough to give him $35,000 to take home.

In the father-son match-up of Steph and Dell Curry, the elder beat his son by 1 point.
