SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During their May 11 meeting, the South Lake Tahoe City Council approved $200,000 to be used in the South Lake Tahoe community through business grants, COVID-related expenses, and a restaurant voucher program to help regain momentum and recover costs during the pandemic.
The grant money has been disbursed through the El Dorado Community Foundation, the restaurant vouchers are currently being redeemed at local restaurants and local businesses are being reimbursed for expenses incurred through COVID-related purchases.
The COVID Complance Grant Reimbursement program pays local businesses up to $2,500 for expenses including personal protective gear, hand sanitizer stations, cashier screening and barrier improvements, social distance signage, and furniture necessary to comply with physical distancing.
Council set aside $100,000 for this program.
To date, 23 businesses have received reimbursements from this fund for a total of $25,532. There are another five businesses requests pending that are either in the payment process or pending additional information.
Reimbursement requests will be accepted through September 30, 2020.
Businesses are asked to submit paid receipts, with pictures of their improvements to recovery@cityofslt.us.
