Fire upates for NorCal and Northern Nevada fires

An update for recent fires in El Dorado County, Yosemite, Pyramid Lake and Redding, Calif.

The Ferguson Fire near the western border of Yosemite is now in its 22nd day. It has consumed 73,560 acres and is now 41 percent contained. Yosemite National Park announces Yosemite Valley, Wawona Road, the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias, Hetch Hetchy, and other areas will remain closed to all visitors through Sunday, August 5, 2018 due to continued unhealthy smoke impacts and ongoing firefighting operations.

The Bumper Fire near Frenchtown in El Dorado County is now 90 percent contained and it burned 67 acres. It started on August 1.

The Omega Fire near Pilot Hill in El Dorado County is also 90 perecent contained and it burned 66 acres, destroyed three structures and damaged two others. It also started August 1.

The Perry Fire burning between Reno/Sparks and Pyramid Lake is now 45 percent contained and has burned 49,141 acres. It started a week ago on July 27 and was allegedly started by a Reno man using fireworks. He has been arrested.

Evacuations have been lifted for those afectd by the Dutch Fire near Woodfords. The fire has been contained and is listed at 204.5 acres.

The biggest California fire, the Carr Fire near Redding, has consumed 131,896 acres and is now 39 percent contained. 1,067 residences, 19 commercial structures, and 481 outbuildings have been destroyed. Many neighborhoods have been repopulated but several roads remained closed. The cause of the fire is "Mechanical Failure of Vehicle."
