A warm week ahead for Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is a chance of isolated scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon through Tuesday, then they'll be moving south of Highway 50 Wednesday and Thursday. Hot temperatures are forecast through the week with heat impacts possible for sensitive groups and those with limited cooling options for their homes in the valleys. Smoke and haze continues as well with ongoing wildfires in the region.

Afternoon zephyr winds will return on Wednesday as low pressure moves through the Pacific Northwest according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. There could be some afternoon gusts up to 30 mph across the area that could bring impacts to fire weather and lake recreation. With the winds will bring a cooling to the daytime highs.

South Lake Tahoe will be close to record temps for this week, and Tuesday there is a chance to break one:

Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 52. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 86. Light southwest wind becoming west 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
