Douglas County to hold public meetings to discuss stormwater issues

Douglas County is hosting a series of public outreach meetings to discuss stormwater issues specific to geographic areas in Douglas County and to explain how a stormwater management program and utility fee might work. A presentation will be given at each meeting and will include recommendations from the Citizen’s Flood Task Force, examples of how a stormwater management program could work, and staff will be collecting public input.

“Public engagement, input and education is essential to this process,” said Larry Werner, Douglas County Manager. “The goal will be to get specific information from each individual location and get representation from all the geographic areas in Douglas County.”

On August 18, 2016 the Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved a contract and consulting for the implementation of the Douglas County Stormwater Utility between Douglas County and House Moran Consulting, Inc. The last time a Stormwater Management plan and utility fee was considered by Douglas County was in 2009.
