Kudos: Bread & Broth thanks Liberty Utilities for two nights of giving

Bread & Broth volunteers were in for a real treat when Liberty Utilities wanted to sponsor two Monday Meal dinners in a row. The Lake Tahoe utility company’s first Adopt A Day of Nourishment was held on August 26 and was to be followed by their second sponsorship on September 2. On the 26th Liberty Utilities’ sponsor crew, consisting of Kurt Althof and Blaine Ladd, were very enthusiastic and eager to embrace the opportunity to pitch in and serve the vulnerable of the community.

Normally, a member of every AAD sponsor crew is asked to share their thoughts in 2-3 sentences. In this instance, Kurt shared many thoughts about his experience in helping others at B&B’s Monday Meal. “It was an absolute pleasure volunteering for B&B’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment,” he began. “The meal was absolutely first class and the amount of food donated and made available to families and individuals to take with them was impressive. The community members who came to dine and collect provisions were incredibly pleasant and appreciative. I found it amazing that several of the diners asked who the sponsor was and who we were volunteering. It is clear that many of those who rely on this service are aware of the community involvement and participation to make it happen.”

“The opportunity to give monetarily and volunteer time to help support this underserved and in need population of our community is special,” he continued. “I would recommend the experience to absolutely everyone in the community who is able to help, donate or both to further this amazing cause. It is a very heartwarming experience and yet leaves one feeling there is much more that is needed. We at Liberty Utilities are proud to support this effort.”

B&B is so appreciative of the financial support, expenditure of personal time and very kind words offered by Kurt, Blaine and Liberty Utilities. Their obvious gratification in helping others is to be commended.
