Kudos: Bread & Broth thanks the Bauwens Family

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As local residents and St. Theresa Church parishioners, Kevin and Jean Bauwens wanted to help those in need and decided that sponsoring a Bread & Broth (B&B) Adopt A Day of Nourishment would provide them with the opportunity to help feed those experiencing hunger in our community. So, on February 2, Kevin and Jean, along with their daughter, Carrie Bauwens, and granddaughter, Isabel Telles, hosted the Monday Meal at St. Theresa Grace Hall.

As the hosting Adopt A Day (AAD) volunteers, the Bauwens family members joined the B&B volunteers at 3:00 p.m. setting up for the dinner and getting the food “giveaway” bags packed with food donated to and purchased by B&B to provide supplemental nutrition for the days later in the week. Once the doors opened to the dinner guests at 4:00 p.m., they graciously and warmly helped serve the dinner and give out bags to the clients.

As the evening dinner service was ending, Jean shared her thoughts about their experience. “We enjoyed helping out our community with a fun group of people. We love Bread & Broth and St. Theresa’s," she said. "Our family enjoys working together, and we’re ready to do it again!”

Bread & Broth truly appreciated the generosity of the Bauwens family and would be very happy to have them join us again in our efforts to ease hunger.
