Bijou Community Park is Revamped During 4th Annual Vail Resorts Echo Day

Employees of Heavenly and Kirkwood Mountain resorts and their friends and family members teamed together for the 4th Annual Vail Resorts Echo Day on Sunday, September 21st. The 312 participants volunteered to revamp Bijou Community Park, putting in a combined effort of 936 volunteer hours Saturday. Volunteers laid sod to build a family picnic area, painted signs and picnic tables, planted shrubs, cleared bushes, redistributed wood chips, resurfaced the skate park, raked the volleyball courts, picked up trash, and cleaned up the bicycle path along Al Tahoe Boulevard.

"I am proud that our Heavenly and Kirkwood employees positively impact our community in a big way every year on Echo Day,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly general manager. “Our goal is to better the communities that we all live and work in, and the massive turnout of volunteers shows how dedicated our employees are to making a difference.”

Vail Resorts Echo Day is an annual, company-wide volunteer day for Vail Resorts employees and their families. There were eight Echo Day events in the communities where they have resorts in North and South Lake Tahoe, Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Wyoming and the Caribbean.
