Washoe County Sheriff's Office hosts National Coffee with a Cop Day in Incline Village

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office added a third location for this year’s Coffee with a Cop Day in order to provide the public a greater opportunity for a one-on-one conversation with Sheriff’s Office executive staff and supervisors.

The new location is I.V. Coffee Lab, 907 Tahoe Boulevard in Incline Village. Chief Deputy Greg Herrera and Patrol Captain Don Gil will be available to answer questions, address concerns, or just casual conversation from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

Sheriff Balaam and Chief Deputy Tim O’Connor (Administration Bureau) will host one Coffee with a Cop at Code Coffee on Wells Avenue from 7:00 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, and Undersheriff Wayne Yarbrough and Chief Deputy Jeff Clark (Detention Bureau) will host an additional Coffee with a Cop at the same time at the Starbucks on Lemmon Drive in Lemmon Valley.

“We have some important issues to talk about,” Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said, “and I can’t think of any better way to talk than one-on-one. One-on-one conversation National Coffee with a Cop day is all about.”

Bring your ideas, your questions, concerns, and ideas, or just stop by to say “hi” and enjoy a cup of coffee with leadership from the Sheriff’s Office.

The concept behind Coffee with a Cop started in 2011 when officers with the Hawthorne, California Police Department thought it would be a good means to encourage open dialogue with the public. Over time the event grew and in 2016, U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) officially declared the first Wednesday in October as National Coffee with a Cop Day.
