COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Issues with the state's CalREDIE system is currently impacting the data in California, including El Dorado County. Not all of the negative results are listed so the county positivity rate is showing above the state's eight percent threshold, which is inaccurate.

Additionally, instructions about what residents should do after they've been tested are being emailed to those who tested at the Lake Tahoe Community College site due to delays.

El Dorado County health officials are reporting an additional 34 cases of COVID-19 since yesterday with 21 in the Lake Tahoe region, 10 in El Dorado Hills, two each in Placerville and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in Diamond Springs, El Dorado (a total of 34 due to two cases moving areas). The interactive dashboard for COVID-19 shows all current data in both Spanish and English. The dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates which serves as the best approximation of the date of infection:
- symptom onset date
- diagnosis date
- specimen collection date
- date received
- date of death

The rate of new cases in El Dorado County is the number of cases received in the state’s electronic lab reporting system (CalREDIE) over a 14-day period. The 14-day case rate being used to make the determination for whether or not a county is on the monitoring list is being calculated using episode date.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 9.4 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 113. The Lake Tahoe and El Dorado Hills regions are High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater). Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

The new dashboard also shows a graph of all cases, to date, or the estimated date a person become infected.

County-wide there have been 702 cases with 340 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).
