South Lake Tahoe: Windy weekend with a drop in temps for week ahead

Gone are the forecast highs of 70s, in their place are increasing winds with a high of 69 on Friday to highs in the 50s through the workweek.

A weak cold front will bring increased high clouds Friday followed by dry conditions and near average temperatures for the weekend. Colder weather is expected for the first half of next week with occasional breezy conditions and a slight chance of showers, as a potent cold front and a series of low pressure systems move through the region.

The forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Today - Mostly sunny, with a high near 69. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Tonight - Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
SaturdaySunny, with a high near 66. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 34. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 64. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 33.

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 55.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 53.
