A man and a woman were seriously injured Friday afternoon on Highway 50 when their motorcycle went off an embankment east of Kyburz.
According to Sgt. Kurt Peterson of the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:15 p.m., the motorcycle hit a guardrail and sent the driver and passenger over the edge about 30 feet.
Both were air lifted to Renown Medical Center in Reno with major injuries, Peterson said.
The ages and hometowns of the pair are unknown at this time.
Highway 50 in the area was closed in both directions as the scene was cleared.
