Rain starts off week in South Lake Tahoe; Temps back in 70s by Friday

A few days of light rain in South Lake Tahoe didn't amount to large numbers of precipitation with .7 inches recorded as of Sunday afternoon. A slight chance of showers continues until Monday evening.

The lake may have not received snow, but Sonora Pass, State Route 108, is currently closed from 26 miles east of Strawberry to the junction with Hwy 395 due to snow.

The seven day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Sunday - Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. East wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday night - Isolated showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday - A 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind around 5 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Monday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 40. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 65. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.

Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 71.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 41.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 72.

According to accuweather.com, the temperatures will be into mid-70s from Thursday, October 8 through Wednesday, October 14. They are calling for snow on the morning of October 29.
