Youth girls and boys lacrosse is coming to the Carson Valley! In partnership with both the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation and the High Sierra Lacrosse League, Douglas Girls Lacrosse Club is hosting a free youth TryLax lacrosse clinic on October 24, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:30PM at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Lacrosse is a rapidly growing sport in the West, but there are few opportunities for our Carson Valley youth. The partnership's goal is to expand lacrosse opportunities by offering a one-day beginners' clinic to introduce the sport of lacrosse and educate local youth ages 9 - 15 within the Carson Valley region.
This beginners' clinic is open to both girls and boys and is available on a first come, first serve basis. The event is free, but all athletes must be registered to attend and is limited to the first 50 registrants. Clinic registration is available through the High Sierra Lacrosse League, click here: highsierralax.org
The High Sierra Lacrosse League is supplying all equipment necessary for this Douglas TryLax including experienced coaches through a grant provided by the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation. This High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation grant generously allows for all 50 TryLax participants to receive a free lacrosse stick ($70. value) and a free one-year membership to US Lacrosse ($30. value) which includes 6 issues of US Lacrosse magazine among many other benefits!
Douglas TryLax will start at 1:00 sharp on Saturday, October 24th at Lampe Park and will last approximately 90 minutes. Athletes should arrive by 12:30 p.m. to complete the check-in process. During the clinic, athletes will be introduced to the game and begin learning a variety of lacrosse skills such as ground balls/scooping, passing/catching, shooting, and more! All athletes should wear comfortable athletic attire, athletic shoes (cleats not necessary), bring their own water, and wear a mask for the check-in process.
