A cold front will push through the Sierra and western Nevada today, bringing a significant cooling trend. High temperatures will struggle to get out of the 50s even in the warmest valleys on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, while morning lows will drop below freezing everywhere, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Colder Sierra valleys will easily plunge into the teens Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Those with agricultural concerns or outdoor animals should prepare for a hard freeze both mornings across Eastern California and Western Nevada.
A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect from noon to 6 p.m. this evening for Lake Tahoe. Temperatures today will run from 59 to 69, with lows 27 to 37. On Tuesday, Lake Tahoe can expect a slight chance of showers, with snow levels starting at around 8,000 feet and dropping. The temperature difference will be felt over night, with temperatures expected to lower to 15 to 25 degrees overnight Tuesday and Wednesday with breezy conditions in the morning, according to the weather service.
