Agenda highlights for Tuesday's South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting

Tuesday's agenda for the South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting appears to be a fairly short one.

Council members will start off with a recognition of the recent graduates of the South Tahoe Action Team (STAT) program.

New business includes a decision on awarding a contract for the preparation of a socio-economic impact study on vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe. The study was requested by City Council at their April 21, 2015 to see what the magnitude of rentals is on South Lake Tahoe, and to help identify the positive and adverse impacts of the community's social and economic well-being. Nine firms and educational institutions submitted proposals, ranging in cost from $37,000 to $49,500. All proposals were then scored by a selection committee. The highest bidder, Economic & Planning Systems, Inc, is the recommended company based on their receiving the highest score. Their bid is also the highest.

The Council will also review how the City distributes commercial floor area (CFA) in South Lake Tahoe. TRPA issued 170,528 square feet to the City to use. They have issued 127,818 square feet to projects in the three adopted Community Plans: Stateline/Ski Run, Bijou Al/Tahoe and Industrial Tract. There is a balance of 42,710 square feet so Council will hear a proposal on how to address the issuance of this.

A tentative subdivision map and condominium plan for the new Zalanta Resort at the Village will also be discussed. On September 10, the SLT Planning Commission voted to recommend the Council approve the map. The project includes a three-story mixed use development, with ground-floor retail and 32 upper-floor condominium hotel (tourist accommodation) units.

Besides a consent agenda and announcements, the only other agenda item is a presentation by the Development Services Department. All year long, City departments have been presenting to the Council on what they do and how they operate to benefit the community.
