Camp Rich, Fresh Ketch celebrate Lake Tahoe ski season with annual 'Pray for Snow' bash

Camp Richardson offers the most affordable all-inclusive snow play activities in South Shore with a slate of family activities including snowshoe and cross country trails and tours, sledding, snowball fights, building snowman and roasting marshmallows by the outdoor fire pit.
Monthly “Snowshoe Cocktail Races” run along the shores of the lakefront Beacon Bar & Grill. Contestants race through the snow, knees up, kicking snow and sand wearing snowshoes, balancing a drink on a cocktail tray, around a course striving to be the fastest without spilling. Registration is free and prizes include snowboards, snowshoes, boat rentals and dining certificates for the fastest time as well as the person who falls the most. From quaint cabins right on the beach of Lake Tahoe to cozy rooms in the historic hotel, Camp Richardson runs the gauntlet of rustic resort lodging. The Richardson House has seven bedrooms and 4 ½ baths.

Bring your positive vibrations to the ski and snowboard alter Thursday, Nov. 15 for Camp Richardson’s annual “Pray for Snow” party at The Fresh Ketch at the Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe. The party begins at 7 p.m. with live music from Cool Black Kettle, Ike & JT, quirky contests, dancing, food and drink specials.
Locals and visitors unite annually for this event to kick off the South Shore Lake Tahoe ski and snowboard season. Among the festivities that will be celebrated includes two bars, two bands (upstairs and downstairs), the infamous frozen t-shirt contest – the first person to successfully unravel a frozen solid shirt and wear it wins; various giveaways including Sierra-at-Tahoe, Sensational Tans, Sierra Athletic Club, Tahoe Bowl, The Village Board Shop, Camp Richardson; food and drinks specials with the Jager & Patron Girls and plenty of photo opportunities.
The Fresh Ketch is located at the Tahoe Keys Marina, 2435 Venice Dr., South Lake Tahoe.
