Wind, rain and snow in South Lake Tahoe, snow at upper elevations

The South Shore has been getting just rain, and lots of it since the recent storm reached the Sierra Wednesday. Heavenly Mountain Resort received 11" of snow overnight, just ahead of their Friday opening day. Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows each received 14" from this storm, and 7" at Kirkwood.

Snow is expected at both lake level and at the resorts tonight before the system passes through.

Today - Rain. High near 45. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tonight - Rain showers before 10pm, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers. Low around 27. Breezy, with a south wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Friday - A 40 percent chance of snow showers before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
