Road controls around Lake Tahoe roads: 3-5" of snow at Heavenly for opening day

A fast moving storm dropped up to a couple of inches of snow at lake level overnight, leaving behind chain controls over the passes, a wind advisory and a chance for a little more snow during the day Wednesday.

Heavenly Mountain Resort opens today with a reported 3-5" of new snow.

Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. November 23. Winds are forecast to be 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Waves will be 2-4' with the highest on the east and northeast shores. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off the lake until conditions improve.
