Author of "My Father's Big Toe" to give readings and autographs

Stories for all ages make up author Johanne Carreau Cronk's first book, My Father's Big Toe, and now the book is available during a book signing and storytelling day at Tahoe Toys and Treasures.

The book is about world traveler and former South Lake Tahoe resident Gilbert Carreau and the stories he would tell his children as they gathered around.

"He was a great storyteller and when we were young and traveled we always had one constant and that was sitting down at night and listening to our father tell us stories," said Tahoe Toys and Treasures owner France Carreau, and sister of the author.

Many South Lake Tahoe locals may remember Gilbert from the first paging company started in town. He also established the first two way radio system for South Lake Tahoe. Gilbert passed away in Palm Springs in February of 2000 as he danced with the love of his life, Marcelle Carreau.

Johanne Carreau Cronk will be at Tahoe Toys and Treasures on Friday, November 28. She will read from her book at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m and will sign books. Her sister owns the store and her mother Marcelle works there. The cute toy store is a perfect place to gather and listen to her stories.

Cronk's words on the book cover: Father's words and stories wrapped around us like strong threads in an indestructible fabric, they joined us together and weaved a connection that outlasted his life.

Tahoe Toys and Treasures is located at 3053 Harrison Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, next to Sno-Flake Drive-In.
