Winter Weather Advisory issued for Lake Tahoe

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Stateline, and Incline Village from 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 11 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12.
Snowfall potential has increased for the Lake Tahoe area, especially above 6500 feet has changed since initial forecasts were released earlier this week. Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches are expected below 6500 feet, 4-8 inches above.
The associated wind with this storm will create choppy lake conditions for Lake Tahoe. Wave heights could be 2-3 feet, locally up to 4 feet.
Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Chain or snow tire restrictions are possible over passes.
Another system is expected for Sunday and Sunday night with additional snowfall impacts to travel expected in the Sierra and for northeast California.
The updated weekend forecast from NWS Reno:
Today - A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tonight - Snow before midnight, then rain and snow. Low around 31. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday - Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 7am. High near 39. West wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday Night - A 30 percent chance of snow after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Sunday - A chance of rain and snow before 10am, then rain between 10am and 1pm, then rain and snow after 1pm. Snow level 6900 feet. High near 39. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday Night - Rain and snow likely, becoming all snow after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
