The South Tahoe Action Team (STAT) is now stronger by ten members as the most recent class of graduates was announced at Tuesday's South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting.
Nearly 100 residents have been trained in the program offered by South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR).
“The STAT program is designed to have neighbors helping neighbors,” said South Tahoe Fire Department Chief Jeff Meston.
This program is for community members to be trained to be responders during times of crisis. Curriculum includes eight hours of instruction taught by members of SLTFR. Graduates may be called upon in times of natural disaster, large scale emergencies and times of need in the South Lake Tahoe area. The curriculum also instructs STAT team members of the Incident Command structure, emergency first aid, lifting/moving techniques, use of extinguishers, flood safety and building collapse.
Today’s graduates include; Myriam Hernandez, Wendy Jones, Nicholas Nizich, Alexandra Grant, Victor Brown II, Jose Hernandez, Jennifer Robillard, Jason Tokheim, Kristin Tokheim and Mike Cullen.
