Douglas County sheriff's deputy shot in neck; Two suspects arrested

A Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputy was shot and suffered serious injuries late Sunday night following an incident in Gardnerville. Two suspects are in custody.
The incident happened before 11:30 p.m. in the area of Gilman and Douglas streets, near Sharkey's casino, according to dispatch reports.
The condition of the officer is unknown at this time. He was flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. According to dispatch, the deputy was struck by gunfire in the neck.
Of the two suspects, one had a gunshot wound to the hand and was being treated at Carson Valley Medical Center, according to dispatch. Investigators have been called to the scene and have shut down the surrounding area and parking lot near the casino.
People should avoid the area. The Carson City Sheriff's Office has been notified, with CCSO responding to the scene to assist.
