A 50-year-old Reno woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal accident Friday on State Route 431, Mount Rose Highway, east of Joy Lake Road in Washoe County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
Tracy L. Scott died after the 2001 GMC Yukon XL she was driving was struck by a Dodge pickup towing a two-axle utility trailer driven by a 36-year-old Reno man. Scott was traveling westbound on the two-lane highway at the time of the crash.
It appears Scott may have pulled out onto the highway from a driveway and then lost traction on the snow covered roadway when the front of the Dodge struck the left side of the SUV, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen in a news release.
Scott and the Dodge pickup driver were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center where she died of her injuries. The man was treated for his injuries and was discharged from the hospital later Friday evening, Allen said.
Witnesses to the event are encouraged to call the NHP-Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) office in Reno at (775) 689-4614 regarding case number NHP-121219080 or e-mail Trooper Scott Morron at smorron@dps.state.nv.us
