El Dorado County Sheriffs Trying to Reunite Recovered Property With Owners

Throughout recent months El Dorado County Sheriff's Office detectives have been investigating an increasingly high volume of residential burglaries. As previously released, four suspects were arrested related to burglaries. One of those suspects was Gary Joseph Masse who was paroled in July 2013 after serving prison time for a previous burglary conviction.

On 12/6/13, Sheriff D'Agostini's detectives obtained information as to Masse's whereabouts and responded to a residence on Baco Road in Placerville. Masse was taken into custody after attempting to flee out the rear of the residence. Upon arrest Masse was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, and it was later discovered that the firearm was stolen in a recent residential burglary in neighboring Amador County.

Detectives also observed several pieces of suspected stolen property at the residence and as a result obtained a search warrant for the premises. Upon execution of the search warrant many items of property that were reported as stolen in the numerous recent residential burglaries throughout El Dorado County, were discovered and seized. In addition, a significant amount of suspected stolen property was collected, some owners of which have yet to be identified. Some of these items include: necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, lockets, antique dolls and figurines, fishing and camping equipment, Matchbox car collection, laptop computers, etc.

Most notably were two US Army dress green uniforms. One belonging to an officer, marked on the interior of the jacket with the name "A. Kent". The second, an enlisted uniform with specialist 5 rank and "1st Army" unit patch. Also located were WWII era military "dogtags" or ID tags with the name ALAN BEATTIE ROBERTSON.

Several photographs have been attached to this bulletin to aid in the identification of their owners.

To date Masse and his co-conspirators have been linked to approximately 15 residential burglaries; however detectives are confident that many more will to be tied to this group of suspects before the investigation is complete.
