There have been various threats to the continued grooming of the cross-country ski trails at Sugar Pine Point due to funding shortages.

Rain and snow likely for much of the week in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Sun, 03/03/2019 - 10:50amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The forecast for the Lake Tahoe Basin is beginning to sound like a broken record: rain, snow, repeat. Next week won't be much different as it will start off fairly quiet before the next storm heads into the region Tuesday night through Friday with periods of valley rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno says the slushy snow we've been seeing at lake level could change and to expect colder conditions returning at the end of the week with snow possible at all elevations.

Sierra snowpack at 153% of average after snowy February
Submitted by paula on Thu, 02/28/2019 - 8:09pmPHILLIPS, Calif. - The numbers weren't much of a surprise Thursday as the Department of Water Resources (DWR) conducted the third Phillips Station snow survey of 2019.
What they found in the spot they've been using to measure since 1941 was good news.
The manual measurement recorded 113 inches of snow depth and a snow water equivalent (SWE) of 43.5 inches, which is more than double what was recorded last month at this location.
Statewide, the Sierra Nevada snowpack is 153 percent of average for this date, thanks to several atmospheric rivers during February.
