Former South Lake Tahoe resident killed in I-580 crash

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) has released information about Friday's fatal crash on Interstate 580 that killed a former South Tahoe High student and Carson City resident.

On March 8 at approximately 2:25 a.m., NHP Troopers were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle crash south of the Galena Creek Bridge, just north of the US-395 Alternate/Bowers Mansion exit.

Their preliminary investigation shows that Kaylinn Boling, 23, was driving a 1999 Honda Civic sedan in a southbound direction on the highway when it went onto the inside shoulder, striking the concrete median barrier. The Honda rotated and overturned and Boling was ejected before the vehicle came to a rest on its wheels. NHP says she was not wearing her seat belt.

Boling was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two left lanes of southbound I-580 were closed for the investigation. Traffic was rerouted into the far right lane and the outside shoulder until all southbound lanes of travel were reopened at 6:30 a.m.

Boling attended South Tahoe High and was a caregiver at Sierra Place Senior Living in Carson City at the time of her death. Her grandparents, Mike and Marie Foster, are long time residents of the South Shore.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is seeking additional witnesses to this crash.
