Give Tahoe grants available for South Lake Tahoe non-profits
Submitted by paula on Thu, 10/01/2020 - 7:53amGive Tahoe, formerly South Lake Tahoe Endowment Fund and a fund of the El Dorado Community Foundation, will continue the ongoing work to deliver important philanthropic funds to the community. This year the challenges facing the community of South Lake Tahoe look different than ever before. With a summer of experience, and the concerns and problem sets that developed over the months, it was determined that a pivot in what Give Tahoe grants to is necessary, timely and well-focused.
August 15 deadline for South Lake Tahoe housing survey for employers and residents
Submitted by paula on Wed, 08/07/2019 - 10:54pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is just over a week left to answer a few questions on the Tahoe Prosperity Center's housing survey. They have teamed up with the South Lake Tahoe Endowment and numerous government jurisdictions, agencies and partners to better understand and plan for resident and employee housing needs now and in the future to support our community and economy.
The survey is only available online until August 15th so please complete the survey as soon as you can. They want to hear directly from residents and workers so they can learn things like:

TPC provides regional solutions to regional needs on behalf of the communities that make up the Lake Tahoe region. One of those critical issues is a lack of housing for local workers. This negatively impacts businesses trying to hire workers and local residents who want to live, work and play in Lake Tahoe. Many workers in our Tourism driven economy find themselves unable to afford a home or apartment.
Tahoe Art League hosts exhibit in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month

April 29, 2019 - 6:30pm Participants in El Dorado County Wellness Center programs will have a chance to show off their artistic skills in the “Each Mind Matters” art exhibit hosted by the Tahoe Art League. The exhibit is at Lake Tahoe Community College April 29 – May 3, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.
The art that will be on display has been created through Art Angels, a program of the Tahoe Art League.

Submitted by paula on Tue, 05/08/2018 - 8:48pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On behalf of Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH), I would like to thank our community for its support during the third winter season of the South Lake Tahoe Warm Room project. Our organization received donations from over 150 different individuals and businesses and benefited from 64 volunteers who provided over 675 volunteer hours in the Warm Room.

Warm Room in South Lake Tahoe opens on Christmas Eve
Submitted by paula on Fri, 12/22/2017 - 3:45pmThere will be two homes for the Warm Room this winter, and the first one opens on Christmas Eve at 7:00 p.m.
From December 24 - December 31, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) will open the Warm Room at the Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church located at 2733 Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Access to the room will be through the lower parking lot in the back of the church, not through the front door.
"We appreciate the support of the local faith community for rallying behind our common missions of service," said the Coalition.

Our organization received donations from over 200 different individuals and businesses and benefited from over 60 volunteers who provided over 1600 volunteer hours.
South Lake Tahoe Endowment gives out $50,000 in grants to local schools and nonprofits

Wendy David, the Cabinet Chair, awarded the grants to an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd.
Private donors fund the Foundation with money to be given back to the community in the form of grants.
South Lake Tahoe Endowment has $50,000 to give to local schools and community groups

South Tahoe Middle School Students Treated to Shopping Spree

On Saturday, October 5. The Assistance League® of Sierra Foothills (ALSF) partnered with the South Lake Tahoe Kmart to bring the Operation School Bell® program to the students.
Success at 4th Annual Sample the Sierra

The 4th Annual Sample the Sierra festival brought in masses of people to taste the unique flavors of the Sierra Nevada. The kickoff Winemakers Dinner at Bumgarner Winery spoiled attendees with a five course meal prepared in the wood fired oven with each course appropriately paired with one of Bumgarner’s fine wines. Saturday’s Sip & Shop at Après Wine Company drew more than 20 people to taste C.G. Di Arie wines and gourmet cheeses.
