South Lake Tahoe Endowment has $50,000 to give to local schools and community groups

The South Lake Tahoe Endowment has $50,000 to give away to community groups, and are encouraging qualified applicants to apply for grants up to $5,000 each before the deadline of October 15.

Since 2005, the endowment has provided support to youth-based nonprofits, primarily schools. In 2015, the South Lake Tahoe Endowment cabinet made the decision to open up the grant process to the entire nonprofit community so more are now offered the opportunity to apply. Some much-needed services were made possible as a result of that year's grant cycle, including the opening of the Warm Room in the winter of 2015-16.

They operate under the umbrella of the El Dorado Community Foundation which now has an office in South Lake Tahoe at the Tahoe Mountain Lab.

This year they will be accepting requests for proposals from any/all nonprofits located in the Tahoe basin that offer programs or services to the residents of South Lake Tahoe, including enhanced educational experiences for youth from local schools.

Application forms are interactive online forms with separate applications as follows:

School Grant Application.......Up to $1,000
Community Grant Application....Up to $5,000

Grant requests are due October 15 at 5:00 p.m.
