Moose Lodge raises $14,000 for South Lake Tahoe Cancer League during Longest Day of Golf

Sponsored by the Moose Lodge of South Lake Tahoe for 14 years, the Longest Day of Golf raised $14,000 to go to help local cancer patients.
On Friday a check was presented by tournament organizer Mary Luckel to the Cancer League during a barbeque at the Moose Lodge. The men and women of the Moose Lodge, the golf course and many local businesses helped the league during their Longest Day of Golf.

The Moose Lodge of South Lake Tahoe has sponsored the Longest Day of Golf for thirteen years. Lodge members spend the day driving golf carts, keeping the water and food flowing for the golfers, and helping to raise funds for charity.
13th annual Longest Day of Golf to raise funds for SLT Cancer League
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/13/2018 - 4:17pmThe 13th annual Longest Day of Golf will be held on June 21, 2018, at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course and will be raising funds for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League.
Participants spend hours on the course, from sun-up to sun-down, or however long they can last, earning money for every hole they golf. During the 2017 event they raised $10,000 and this year's goal is to have golfers play over 135 holes and raise $12,000 to help the SLT Cancer League help locals with the disease.
Letters: Ringing in the new year with an attitude of gratitude

For nearly four decades, the volunteers of this organization have driven patients from South Lake Tahoe to their medical treatment, at no charge to the patients or their families. The drivers take patients to Reno, Carson City, Minden, Truckee, and as far away as UC Davis. The Cancer League also gives limited monetary assistance in the form of small grants to the patients to help with their monthly expenses.
Longest Day of Golf nets SLT Cancer League over $9,400
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/24/2017 - 9:43pmEach year the Moose Lodge of South Lake Tahoe (Loyal Order of Moose #1632) hosts the Longest Day of Golf at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course to raise funds for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League and today they celebrated their effors, $9,462. Since 2006, golfers in the day long event have raised $125,328.82 for the non-profit to use towards transportation and grants for local cancer patients.

El Dorado County Supervisor Sue Novasel is inviting all county residents to join in the continuing discussion about traffic congestion in Meyers at the next Traffic Congestion update meeting in Meyers on April 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. She will be leading the discussion that was started at the first meeting on February 13 when about 100 people attended.
Felons arrested for shooting guns in Meyers
Submitted by paula on Mon, 12/19/2016 - 10:03pmFour visitors to the South Shore were arrested by El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies on Friday night after they were caught shooting firearms on U.S. Forest Service land behind Tahoe Paradise Golf Course in Meyers.
On December 16, deputies responded to a call of shooting about 100 yards from the end of Lost Lane. Upon arrival they found four men, Alexander, Keoseng, Johlany and Yao Saechao with guns. Alexander and Keoseng are convicted felons from Stockton, Calif., and are prohibited from possessing firearms. All four were arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail.
10 cited for alleged illegal contracting violations during South Lake Tahoe sting
Submitted by paula on Thu, 09/22/2016 - 7:58pmContractors State License Board (CSLB) investigators working with investigators from the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office cited ten men posing as licensed contractors during a recent sting operation.
Four of the individuals caught are Nevada residents, and the other six are South Lake Tahoe locals.
Posing as homeowners, investigators invited suspected unlicensed contractors to place bids on home improvement projects for a single-family home near the Tahoe Paradise Golf Course. Suspects placed bids ranging from $1,150 for interior painting to $6,000 for tile installation.

Golf tournament to raise funds for fallen South Lake Tahoe firefighter
Submitted by paula on Thu, 10/01/2015 - 12:27pmThere will be a golf tournament at the Tahoe Paradise Golf Course on Saturday, October 3 to benefit the family of fallen firefighter, Mikey Hallenbeck.
Hallenbeck, 21, died this summer after a tree fell on him while fighting his first fire as a member of the U.S.F.S. fire crew. He grew up in Shingle Springs, Calif., was living in Meyers at the time of his death and worked at Sierra-at-Tahoe during the winter.
The Wildland Firefighter Foundation will host the tournament, called "Barefoot for Birdies," with all funds raised going to the family as well as the foundation.
Golfers on the course for 15 hours for "Longest Day of Golf"

In their tenth year, the concept of the Day of Golf was started over a couple of cocktails at the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge. Russ Wilson and Curt Emrie formulated the idea and went to the cancer league to see if they'd like to get the donations earned during the day.
Last year, the golfers got 130 holes of golf in before dark, raising $12,000.

The 10th Annual Longest Day of Golf will be held at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course on June 18, 2015. The South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge #1632 has partnered with Sierra at Tahoe, and Harrah’s and Harvey's Casino Resorts t sponsor the event.
Last year the golfers played 130 holes of golf and raised over $12,000 for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer league.
Golfers start at sun-up and play as many holes as they can before sun-down. The golfers take pledges on a per hole basis or a flat dollar donation amount. This year’s goals are to play 130+ holes and raise over $12,000.00.

BBQ to raise funds for Sierra House Elementary's Grow Dome

The Annual Turn 3 on the Green Golf Tournament and BBQ raises funds each each for different groups and projects in need. This year, the Sierra House Elementary (soon to be known as Sierra House Mountain Academy) is the beneficiary for their Grow Dome project.
The public is invited to the afternoon BBQ which will be held at the American Legion starting at 4 p.m. on August 20. This will follow a golf tournament at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course that has a shotgun start at 12:45 p.m.
All funds raised go to the Grow Dome project.
Barton Foundation golf tournament raises more than $14,000 for Community Health Endowment
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 07/13/2013 - 10:50amBarton Foundation's 19th annual Golf Tournament and fundraiser held on Thursday, June 20 at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course raised more than $14,000 for Barton’s Community Health Endowment fund. The Hawaiian themed, “Tiki Tee Off and Lei Up Luau Golf Tournament hosted a field of 108 golfers and 160 luau attendees – complete with a roasted pig, raffle prizes and a performance by the Ukuleles of Tahoe.
