South Lake Tahoe Cancer League holding See's candy sale this weekend

The South Lake Tahoe Cancer League's annual See's Candy Sale will be at the American Legion Post #795 in the entry hall Saturday and Sunday, December 19/20 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Candy purchased from the Cancer League supports the monthly grants given to local cancer patients and reimburses volunteer drivers who take local patients to their appointments in Truckee, Sacramento, Carson Valley, and Reno.
Moose Lodge raises $14,000 for South Lake Tahoe Cancer League during Longest Day of Golf
Submitted by paula on Mon, 09/02/2019 - 11:35amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - From sunup to sundown, golfers recently hit the links at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course to raise funds for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League. Sponsored by the Moose Lodge of South Lake Tahoe for 14 years, the Longest Day of Golf raised $14,000 to go to help local cancer patients.
On Friday a check was presented by tournament organizer Mary Luckel to the Cancer League during a barbeque at the Moose Lodge. The men and women of the Moose Lodge, the golf course and many local businesses helped the league during their Longest Day of Golf.

A new corporate pop-up store appeared near Stateline and is not associated with the Cancer League.

November 16, 2018 (All day) The South Lake Tahoe Cancer League is launching their biggest fundraiswer of the year, the annual See's Candy Sale, on Friday, November 16, 2018.
This year the sale is located in the Crossing located at 2038 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe. The Crossing has generously donated the space to the Cancer League.
The store will be operated by volunteers from 10:00 a..m to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays until they are sold out.
Letters: Ringing in the new year with an attitude of gratitude

For nearly four decades, the volunteers of this organization have driven patients from South Lake Tahoe to their medical treatment, at no charge to the patients or their families. The drivers take patients to Reno, Carson City, Minden, Truckee, and as far away as UC Davis. The Cancer League also gives limited monetary assistance in the form of small grants to the patients to help with their monthly expenses.

September 29, 2016 - 10:00am The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program greatly needs dedicated, caring volunteers to help deliver lunchtime meals to homebound seniors. Volunteers work one day a week, delivering meals between 10:30 a.m. and noon.
An orientation session for new volunteer drivers is scheduled for Thursday, September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Senior Center, 3050 South Lake Tahoe Boulevard, in the dining room.

The meals are prepared by the Senior Nutrition Program and the volunteers deliver those meals.

"We currently have a critical need for drivers in the Senior Nutrition Program in South Lake Tahoe," said Ruth Green, Program Coordinator for the Senior Nutrition Program. "We greatly appreciate the valuable service our volunteers provide! Without our volunteers many of the senior programs in our county would not be possible."

Golfers on the course for 15 hours for "Longest Day of Golf"
Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/18/2015 - 7:26pmNine golfers started their day at 6 a.m. Thursday, prepared to be on the Tahoe Paradise Golf Course until 9 p.m. raising money for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League.
In their tenth year, the concept of the Day of Golf was started over a couple of cocktails at the South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge. Russ Wilson and Curt Emrie formulated the idea and went to the cancer league to see if they'd like to get the donations earned during the day.
Last year, the golfers got 130 holes of golf in before dark, raising $12,000.
