Volunteer drivers needed for Senior Nutrition Program

The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is currently looking for dedicated, caring volunteers to help in a variety of capacities. "Volunteers are a vital asset to the Senior Nutrition Program," said Ruth Green, Program Coordinator for the Senior Nutrition Program. "Without this valuable community support, many of the County's senior services would simply not be possible." Current volunteer needs include:

Drivers - Volunteers drivers are needed to help deliver meals one day each week from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to homebound adults ages 60 years or older. Drivers are needed in Placerville, Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, and the Georgetown Divide, and especially in South Lake Tahoe. For many of those served, the daily contact with volunteers is as vital as the meal. For volunteers who are unable to make a weekly commitment, back-up drivers are also needed for on-call purposes.

Kitchen Volunteers - Kitchen volunteers are needed to help with lunch service, set-up and clean-up at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center at 990 Lassen Lane. Kitchen volunteers assist between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on a regularly scheduled day each week, or on call as needed. Kitchen volunteers are also needed in other senior nutrition locations throughout the County.
