Call For A Ride, Stay Alive is a drunk driving awareness campaign that offers server intervention training to employees from casinos and other Stateline area businesses.
Stateline power outage caused by water in underground vault
Submitted by paula on Mon, 09/28/2020 - 3:38pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Liberty Utility and NV Energy customers in the Stateline area were without power for several hours Sunday evening and early Monday due to water that got into an unground vault on the California side. This required significant additional work to safely restore power to the six Nevada customers and 426 California customers.
50th anniversary of the disappearance of Donna Ann Lass from South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 09/02/2020 - 3:32pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was 1:15 a.m. on the morning of September 6, 1970 when nurse Donna Ann Lass was working in the first aid room of the Sahara Tahoe Hotel & Casino in Stateline, Nevada. She made a log entry just before her last patient entered the room 15 minutes later, one-half hour before getting off duty.
Donna was scheduled to make a log entry at 1:45 a.m. but it was never completed and she was never seen again. Although her car was found parked at her apartment she wasn't seen leaving the Sahara.
71-year-old Jackson man identified as victim in Kingsbury Grade motorcycle crash

At approximately 2:23 p.m. on June 11, NHP troopers were dispatched to a fatal collision involving three motorcycles at the curve between Palisades Drive and Katherine Court in Stateline, Nevada.
Douglas County authorities ask for public's help in locating felony domestic battery suspect
Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/09/2020 - 10:29amDOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - A man who was vacationing in the Stateline, Nevada area last month is wanted by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) on a warrant charging him with Domestic Battery with Strangulation during that visit. They are asking for the public's assistance in locating the suspect, 27-year-old Ryan Manuella.
Manuella is known to have family, friends, and/or associates in the states of California, Texas and New York, although at this time he may be anywhere in the United States according to DCSO.
If arrested, the bail requested on Manuella is $100,000.

Governor orders all Nevada casinos and non-essential businesses to close
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/17/2020 - 10:35pmDuring a Tuesday evening press conference, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak ordered a statewide closure of all nonessential businesses in the state, including casinos.
The Stateline, Nevada casinos not already closed will close March 17 at midnight. The nonessential businesses in the state must close by noon on Wednesday, March 18.
Lakeside Inn first Lake Tahoe casino to close
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/17/2020 - 2:57pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Lakeside Inn in Stateline, Nevada became the first South Shore casino to close due to coronavirus COVID-19 concerns.
"This decision was based on concern for the health of our community and of our staff members," said Lakeside Inn President Stacy Noyes. "We decided to take the lead and help our family. It's the responsible thing to do."
All employees not working will get two weeks of pay. Noyes said the situation and decisions are evolving daily and the initial plan is to close for two weeks.

They have been meeting at the lake on the third Thursday of the month, but Engel's presentation will suggest this meeting take place in Minden just as their other three monthly meetings do.

Stateline residents arrested after a months-long narcotics investigation

Timothy Hecox, 61-years-old, and Holly Anderson, 50-years-old, both of Stateline, Nevada, were arrested after a search warrant was served at 169 Faris Court #8 on July 17, 2019. They were booked for trafficking of narcotics and several other drug-related charges.

Nevada Gaming Control Board: South Shore casinos back on the winning side
Submitted by paula on Sun, 04/28/2019 - 11:18pmSTATELINE, Nevada - Casinos on both the north and south ends Lake Tahoe saw a gain in revenue in March 2019 according to figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control board.
Revenue on the South Shore was $15,913,477, up 9.16 percent from the same month a year ago when revenue was $14,577,529. On the North Shore, their reported revenue of $2,085,064 was up 2.2 percent from March 2018.
Statewide, the revenues reported by casinos was $1,022,974,672, down .12 percent from last year.
The "gaming win" represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.

Monthly gaming report: Lake Tahoe casino revenue sees sharp drop

Revenue on the South Shore was $14,571,570, down 26.64 percent from the same month a year ago when revenue was $19,861,878. On the North Shore, their reported revenue of $1,411,965 was down 24.74 percent from February 2018.
Statewide, the revenues reported by casinos was $1,011,538,885, down .62 percent from last year.
South Lake Tahoe trio arrested after alleged kidnapping, domestic violence and drug case

Bus service faces drastic change in South Lake Tahoe; Public meeting Friday

Four plans were created as bus service cannot continue as it currently is due to several factors, including the cost of fleet replacement and improvement, funding availability and forecasted funds, regulatory compliance, and keeping and attracting drivers and staff.
Fireworks barge catches fire in Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/05/2018 - 7:28amTwo hours after the Lights on the Lake fireworks show ended on July 4, one of three barges used in the show caught on fire.
The fireworks crews on board attempted to put out the fire with fire extinguishers but were unable to suppress the flames. Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District (TDFPD) monitors the show each year and weren't far away. At 12:27 a.m. July 5, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District responded with their new fire boat, Marine 24, and doused the fire within six minutes.
There were no injuries.
Harrahs Tahoe and Harvey's to start paid parking program Saturday

Parking rates will run $20 for self-parking and $25 for valet parking with both cash and credit cards accepted for payment, and will run this summer on days and nights during major special events and peak holiday periods at both Stateline, Nevada properties.

The Hard Rock Café, located in Harvey’s Casino, is where all of the fun will be taking place during the dinner hours from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Patrons will enjoy their staff serving as volunteer waiters and waitresses as they assist the restaurant staff that day while they work for “special tips.”

Three still hospitalized in Reno after South Lake Tahoe vehicle collision

According to Officer Jeff Gartner of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), he called Renown Monday morning and was told that all three were still hospitalized with their injuries.

Submitted by paula on Sat, 02/03/2018 - 6:26pmUpdate 6:45 p.m.: The driver of one of the vehicles, a 29-year-old woman from Stateline, Nevada has been arrested on charges of a Felony DUI and is in the El Dorado County Jail on $125,000 bail.
She was driving a Range Rover eastbound when, for reasons unknown at this time, she traveled into the westbound lane, striking a BMW with five occupants, ages 19-31, all from the Bay Area. The Range Rover was traveling about 40 mph at the time of impact according to the CHP. This is the speed limit at that area of Pioneer Trail.

Scenes of the show were shot at several Lake Tahoe locations, including Valhalla Tahoe, Hard Rock Hotel Tahoe and Edgewood Tahoe, and they'll all be hosting parties for the show! Bay Area toddler dies after being found in casino hot tub

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has announced that a four-year-old from Redwood City, California has died on the South Shore.
At 1:27 p.m. Sunday, December 17, emergency personnel were called to MontBleu Casino and Resort in Stateline, Nevada after the toddler was found in a hot tub. He was transported by the Tahoe Douglas Fire Department to Barton Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The next of kin has been notified.

This development at the end of Kahle Drive in Stateline, Nevada is the first full ownership lakefront in 30 years at Lake Tahoe. They are being built on land that was once a trailer park.

By the time you watch the movie clip in this story, one individual will have ended their life by suicide because they think they have no other choice. According to the World Health Organization, a massive 800,000 people take their lives every year—one death every 40 seconds. That’s over 2,000 a day.
A free showing of the movie "EXIT: The Appeal of Suicide" will be shown on the South Shore on Saturday, July 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at Tahoe Community Church in Stateline. There will be a question and answer period Q & A after the movie.

2017 Regional Transportation Plan approved

The long-term transportation plan is reviewed and updated every four years as a blueprint to prioritize investments to improve Lake Tahoe’s transportation system over the next 20-plus years.
