The Tahoe Chamber's next Connect for a Cause Mixer will benefit the local non-profit, SOS Outreach. The mixer will take place on August 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Revive Coffee & Wine in South Lake Tahoe. The community is invited to enjoy this fun evening and support an organization that has had an incredible impact on the South Shore community.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Perhaps you know of them as mother-in-law units, tiny houses in the backyard or an extra apartment above a garage for renters. The term Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) has become a popular one in describing these types of housing as the affordable housing conversation turns towards solutions.

- ADUs are an affordable type of home to construct in California because they do not require paying for land, major new infrastructure, structured parking, or elevators.

The community is invited to join the Tahoe Chamber in their visit to Carson City on July 16 from noon to 5:00 p.m. to explore how Carson City leaders and community members successfully transformed and revitalized their downtown main street.

The developing Main Street Management Plan for South Lake Tahoe parallels much of what Carson City did, and those going on the trek will have the chance to learn about the history of Nevada project and how the current business climate of the area has improved since the highway realignment.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe City Council voted Tuesday to give SnowGlobe a new five-year contract with the criteria that organizers must be working on locating a new location for the event at the end of two years.

If they do not have a good plan in place after those first two years the City could terminate the contract.

The future of Tahoe tourism needs to be sustainable. This year’s Annual Tourism Forum will address this global concern on a local level on Thursday, May 30 at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Responsible tourism is something all businesses in the Lake Tahoe basin are working towards and this year’s forum will explore that theme. The next Tahoe Chamber Connect for a Cause charity mixer will be raising funds for Live Violence Free on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Lake Thoe AlexWorX.

The community invited to join in, have fun and support the essential services Live Violence Free provides for South Lake Tahoe. The non-profit is committed to promoting a violence-free community through education and advocacy to address domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and basic needs.

Carson Tahoe Care Center, an advanced care center designed to deliver high-quality memory care, skilled nursing and transitional rehabilitation services opening this spring, is now welcoming residents to its memory care community. This center, which is part of Prestige Care Inc., will offer the most comprehensive memory care and skilled nursing services in the region.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – With a critical increase in active shooter events across the country, the Tahoe Chamber is holding a Level UP Workshop on the subject Wednesday, March 20 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in their Stateline office.

Workplace violence affects about 2 million workers in the U. S. each year. With this violence continuing to pose a looming threat, active shooter training is essential for all businesses. Active shooter events most commonly occur in businesses - 45 percent, schools - 25 percent, and government facilities - 10 percent.

The best in business returns to the South Shore at the 2019 GO Local Business EXPO taking place Friday, March 29 at Harveys Lake Tahoe from 4:30-8:30 p.m. This annual event is a community favorite that aims to showcase the most cutting-edge businesses. Each year approximately 90 exhibitors feature their latest and greatest products, services and promotions. All members of the community are encouraged to attend and can expect a night of food tasting, beer and wine sampling, live music and vendor giveaways.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An upcoming workshop will focus on helping employers bridge the generational gaps and provide important information on how to engage each employee equally.

The Tahoe Chamber's Level UP workshop, Engaging the Generations, will be held on February 20 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.- More than 100 community members attended the Tahoe Chamber's annual Connect for a Cause Charity Mixer and raised over $2,400 and brought in cases of food for Bread & Broth 4 Kids.

Attendees enjoyed appetizers and Riva Grill’s signature cocktail, Wet Woodys while also raising money for the local non-profit that currently provides backpacks of weekend food to 170 kids in grades K-8 at South Lake Tahoe schools.

The unique cuisine, craft breweries and beer bars of South Lake Tahoe will be highlighted during Elevate Your Palate Restaurant Week January 20-27, 2019. There will be promotions and specials offered througout the South Shore during the week.

Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the locally brewed craft beers and specialty dishes offered.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Bread & Broth, the local nonprofit tasked with feeding those in need on the South Shore, will be the beneficiary of the annual Connect for a Cause Charity Mixer on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Riva Grill in South Lake Tahoe.

Hosted by the Tahoe Chamber, the mixer will raise funds and gather food donations for the group's Bread & Broth 4 Kids program which gives away up to 170 bags of food each weekend to local school children in grades K-8.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be a candidate's forum co-hosted by the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Tahoe Community College Student Senate on October 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the school's Student Lounge/Creekside Room.

Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber) is hosting a candidate forum on October 4 for candidates running for South Lake Tahoe City Council. Three City Council member seats are up for election, which includes those held by incumbents, and candidates, Wendy David, Tom Davis and Austin Sass. All nine candidates are confirmed to attend.

The forum will be held in the Lake Tahoe Community College Board Room from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In classic Tahoe style, when there is a problem we study it. In the past five years, the housing issue has been studied on several fronts. In that time, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Placer County and the North Tahoe-Truckee area have all conducted Housing Studies and the City of South Lake Tahoe updated its Housing Element. What has been the result of all these studies? This column highlights the key recommendations from those studies and where we are now in terms of implementation.
