South Lake Tahoe DMV to Close for Renovations
Submitted by paula on Thu, 03/13/2014 - 10:01amTime to get all of your DMV paperwork turned into the South Lake Tahoe office! They will be closing for renovations at noon on Wednesday, March 26 and reopening on Tuesday, April 1.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is alerting local customers that the office, located at 3344 South Lake Tahoe Blvd #B will be closed so to plan ahead.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is seeking an arrest warrant for James Michael Valero on three felony counts and one misdemeanor count following an attack Tuesday night on a 92 year old World War II veteran.

License Your Dog During Amnesty Days
Submitted by paula on Tue, 10/01/2013 - 10:27amIn an effort to encourage dog owners in El Dorado County to have their dogs licensed or renew expired licenses, El Dorado County Animal Services is offering an amnesty period for late and never-licensed, spayed or neutered dogs beginning September 28 through November 30, 2013. During the two month amnesty licensing period, the penalty fees for late, expired, and never-licensed spayed or neutered dogs will be waived by Animal Services.

On Sept. 7 you will be able to fish wherever you like without the need for a fishing license. However remember that you will need to abide by the rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing.
Be sure to obey those rules and regulations, and don’t do something illegal. If you do, and if you get caught, it could be a very expensive experience.
South Lake Tahoe police alert public of Tier II sex offender
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 07/29/2013 - 7:05amThe South Lake Tahoe Police Department is alerting the public to a registered sex offender in the area. Wesley Goetz is a Tier II Sex Offender out of Nevada, who lives in Incline Village.
He was convicted in 1998 for Felony Lewdness with a Child under 14, and is on lifetime supervision for his crimes. Goetz must adhere to several special conditions including staying away from areas / businesses which children frequent, and not accessing the Internet without permission.
Goetz is a registered sex offender on lifetime supervision, and isn't on active parole in the State of Nevada.
South Lake Tahoe police reports recent surge in auto thefts, attempted thefts

On July 4th, 2013 a 1992 Dodge van was stolen from 2111 South Ave. This van was located and recovered locally. Case number 1307-0645:

South Lake Tahoe man dies in pedestrian crash involving suspected DUI driver
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 02/23/2013 - 1:53pmA 51-year-old South Lake Tahoe man died Friday after an alleged drunk driver with a suspended license for DUI hit him with his vehicle on Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The victim was found unconscious and taken to Barton Memorial Hospital where he died. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
Gregory Stearns, 49, was arrested and faces a DUI charge that involved death and driving under a suspended license for a previous DUI where he was convicted.

Submitted by Editor on Fri, 02/22/2013 - 10:17amSouth Lake Tahoe Police Department officers arrested a man on DUI hit and run charges Thursday night after allegedly crashing his car into two parked vehicles in a driveway off of Fountain Drive. It is believed the man was text messaging at the time of the crash.
Christopher Catterson, 27, of South Lake Tahoe was arrested after running from the scene of the accident, said South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Shannon Laney.

Douglas County authorities ask for help in locating missing woman

Kathy Arlana Hammond was reported as a missing person by a friend on Sunday, Feb. 17. Hammond was last seen at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15.
Hammond is reported to be mentally unstable, and has threatened suicide in the past. Hammond is reported to be driving a 4-door 1993 Subaru Legacy sedan, teal green in color, bearing California license plate 3CKF797.
Three arrested in South Lake Tahoe; face weapons, drugs and conspiracy charges

Shortly after 4pm, on Monday, Feb. 18 South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Travis Cabral conducted a traffic stop in a residential area off of Pioneer Trail after seeing a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road.

NHP issues nearly 12,000 cell phone-related distracted driving traffic citations

Thirty of the offenders last year received their second citation for the same offense with 25 of those witnessed on their phone for a third time and cited once more.
Tahoe license plate holders eligible to win free lift tickets

Tahoe plates spotted by official “spotters” and the general public will be entered to win free lift tickets every week until March 20, 2013. The program is designed to raise awareness of Lake Tahoe license plates, and to reward and encourage renewals and new Tahoe license plate purchases.
Tahoe Fund Presents $12,850 Check for Key Segment of Lake Tahoe Bikeway
