Dear Residents, Business Owners, and Homeowners: I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to those who voted for me and supported my campaign for city council. I cannot tell you how honored and humbled Terri and I are because of the support we received. Terri worked very hard to support and guide my campaign. I look forward to serving all members of the community and working with other members of the city council to find common goals and an agreed-upon way to achieve them. I want to see our city council and community unite around our approach to important governance issues.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The El Dorado County Elections Office released another ballot count on Friday afternoon, solidifying several offices and ballot measures.

Measure U is passing 60.58% to 39.42% (55% was needed to pass), and Measure N is failing, 28.36% voting yes and a resounding no count of 71.64%.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – One man died and a deputy from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) was injured in an early morning shooting in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Slopes of Change, a 25-minute film by South Lake Tahoe local Molly Armanino, is showing Friday night at The Hangar. The film explores loss, healing, and the connection to the mountains. It follows Molly as she navigates the Freeride World Tour during a challenging ski season marked by personal tragedy and professional highs and lows.

In the film, Molly learns that skiing is about reconnecting with joy, even in the darkest times. She confronts the fear and uncertainty that once made the mountains her sanctuary.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The standing-room-only crowd at Meyers Elementary Thursday evening came for one thing, to find out why there are not enough snowplow operators for adequate snow removal this season in the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County at Lake Tahoe.

A taco/nacho bar with tortillas, chips, salsa, guacamole, beans, rice, a variety ofmeat/vegetarian options, and various toppings will be available. The cost of the event is $20 for adults and $10 for kids, not including drinks.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - American Legion Post 795 of South Lake Tahoe invites community members to join the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion in honoring all veterans this Veterans Day. LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - On the heels of the recent dusting of snow, ‘Plates for Powder,’ the program that offers free skiing and riding opportunities to those who purchase a Lake Tahoe license plate, returns for the 2024-25 winter season. Proceeds from plate sales and renewals support environmental improvement projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin and help protect Tahoe’s clear blue waters, mountain forests, world-class recreation, and public beaches.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe is holding its 4th annual Sock Drive to help those in the South Lake Tahoe area. The socks can be for kids, teens, men, or women.

The collected socks will go to Catalyst Community, Tahoe Youth and Family Services, Sierra Foster Families, Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, Child Protective Services, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, and Live Violence Free.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Bread & Broth is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Monday, November 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Theresa Church Grace Hall. This special holiday meal is for all community members. It will be a full-course meal that includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, rolls, and pie for dessert. In addition, dinner guests will be given a food giveaway bag containing dairy products (eggs, milk, and butter), fresh produce, bread, pastries, meat, and canned goods.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – Partnership Douglas County and Douglas County are hosting the “Steered Straight Parent Night Presentation” on December 2, 2024, at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) sent out a notice to the public, parents, and staff to alert them of a vague and non-direct threat to a school.

On Election Day, reports of threats to schools in Maine and other locations were received and investigated.

Editor: The No on Measure N Campaign in South Lake Tahoe issued the following statement this evening after election returns showed voters overwhelmingly rejecting the flawed and divisive vacancy tax proposal.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe, in collaboration with a local planning team, is creating an area plan that fosters a more defined sense of place in central South Lake Tahoe. Through outreach efforts this summer and fall, including stakeholder meetings, open houses, and public hearings, community members have shared with staff a clear vision of what this area should become.

Dear Editor: First of all, for someone who is running for City Council - he should know the name of the subdivision where he lives. He said he lives in “Sierra Tract.” (See his letter to the editor here) The misnomer name of that subdivision was corrected officially by former City Manager, Nancy Kerry. It was a MISTAKE.
