SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A large crowd enjoyed the outdoors at Heavenly Village on Saturday for the 4th annual Fall AleFest & Chicken Wing Cook-Off, marking the start of the fall season in South Lake Tahoe.

It was a holiday atmosphere as fifteen top-tier breweries showcased their finest brews, while top celebrated village eateries, including Fire & Ice, Gunbarrel Tavern, The Loft, Kalanis, California Burger, Azul Latin Kitchen, along with the El Dorado County Sheriffs Office brought the heat to the village’s biggest culinary battle of the year.

Join California State Parks on September 26 at 1 p.m. for a virtual live dive at Emerald Bay State Park. Go into the Emerald Forest dive site, the result of a dramatic landslide in 1955. The effect of the slide can be seen as massive tree trunks rise from the depths, creating a stunning underwater forest.

Enjoy history through a series of presentations and Chautauquas by local historians and authors, David and Gayle Woodruff.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Valley Campground will be hosting the 2024 Rat Pack Rendezvous Vintage Trailer Rally on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will consist of an Open House and a Classic Car Cruise-in. People are invited to go to the campground meet owners and explore a stunning array of vintage trailers. The event is open to the public and is free of cost.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - The Tahoe Interagency Bear Team (TIBT) and Nevada Division of State Parks have announced the first-ever Tahoe Bear Fest at Spooner Lake State Park on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This bear-focused, family-friendly event is designed to educate and engage the public on living and recreating responsibly in bear country.

I live for a good side dish, especially a colorful and flavorful vegetable side dish. Green beans are one of my favorite vegetables. They are so versatile and can be made in a variety of ways.

This is one of my “go-to” recipes when I want something tasty that I can throw together in a hurry.

Grilled Green Beans with Peppers and Onions

2 red bell peppers, cut lengthwise in half, seeds removed

1 medium red onion, cut crosswise into ¼-inch slices

2 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. olive oil

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

2 lbs. green beans, trimmed
 


SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Great Basin Institute will be hosting local urbanized bear expert "Tahoe Toogee" at its next event at the Lake Tahoe the Sky Amphitheater at Taylor Creek on Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m.

The title of Toogee's talk is "Black Bears in the Basin." This will be the first time he is visiting the stage at Taylor Creek.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A new play set in the days after the September 11, 2001 attacks is headed to the Valhalla Tahoe Boathouse Theater for eight performances starting Sept. 12, 2024.

The Guys” explores the emotional impact of post-Sept. 11 through the stories and lives of eight firefighters. Based on a true story, playwright and journalist Anne Nelson crafted the piece from her own experience of helping a New York fire captain write eulogies for his firefighters who died at the World Trade Center.

Are you acquainted with shishito peppers? They are thin-skinned little green peppers that you can cook up in a skillet in just ten minutes. Once they have a little char on them, they’re so irresistible.

Shishito peppers are a delightful variety of peppers originating from Japan.  They have a unique flavor profile that is sweet, slightly smoky, and generally very mild. However, about one in every ten can surprise you with a spicy kick. The heat is not overwhelming, but it can be surprising, which adds allure and popularity to this pepper.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The iconic Rocky Horror Picture Show is turning 49 this year, and Bally's Tahoe will be hosting a special evening to celebrate, including the original "Brad Majors" himself, Barry Bostwick who will be the host. The event is taking place on Friday, October 18.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Valley Campground will be hosting the 28th-anniversary celebration of the Valhalla Renaissance Faire on Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, August 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be jousting, live entertainment, an artisan marketplace, costume contests, food/drinks, photo opportunities, and more! Guests are encouraged to come in costume.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $25 for adults (18+), $20 for seniors (62+), $15 for kids (7-12), and children under 7 are free to attend.
