SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The annual St. Patrick's Day dinner at St. Theresa Catholic Church will be held in a to-go fashion this year.

Traditional corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots, and Irish soda bread are available for $15 per person. Pre-sale tickets for the event are sold after Sunday masses and a limited number will be available at the door.

Dinners can be picked up from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the St. Theresa Grace Hall, 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - There have been 27 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death recorded since yesterday in El Dorado County. This brings the total of COVID-19 cases in the county to 26,589. This does not include all at-home tests that may have been positive.

There are now 5.8 new cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents in the county.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After Russia invaded Ukraine, South Lake Tahoe resident Talia Koval Tyaglo knew she had to do something for her native country. After checking in on family and friends, Talia knew she couldn't just sit and not do anything, so she turned her art into support of the Ukrainian people.

"Especially at times like this, art gives us hope and strength," said Talia.

At first, Talia was in shock after the invasion, and then wanting to help she asked herself, "What can I do, what do I have to offer?"

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The slopes around Lake Tahoe have been full this ski season, especially with Sierra-at-Tahoe closed due to extensive damage from the Caldor Fire. with crowded slopes come crowded parking lots, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is addressing those parking illegally on SR88 near Kirkwood.

On Saturday, March 5, officers from the CHP South Lake Tahoe Office found several cars parked illegally - cars over the white line and in the lane of travel in a notoriously dangerous area called "icebox" due to the icy conditions.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An inside slider-type system will bring snow showers, gusty northerly winds, and a brief period of colder temperatures through Thursday. A Lake Wind Advisory is in place from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10.

Expect northerly wind gusts between 25 and 40 mph at times for valleys on Thursday, with gusts over exposed ridges along the Sierra crest up to 100 mph. Hazardous boating conditions, aviation, and ski impacts, and concerns for high-profile vehicles will continue through Thursday.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Based on direction from the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), Douglas County will be utilizing the remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funding to replace lost revenue in order to provide government services. As part of the county’s development of a plan to spend these funds, the county is asking for funding requests to be considered by the BOCC.

Eugene Arthur Bellisario was born in Modesto, Calif. on November 20, 1938, to Ned and Norma Bellisario. he died unexpectedly on February 18, 2022, at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nev. with his family by his side. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Bellisario, sons Scott and Brian, daughter-in-law Arnan Bains, his much-loved sister, Sharon Hossli, his 99-year-old mother-in-law, Lois Schuette, and many nieces and nephews.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Veterans Alliance honored two area women for their service on Tuesday, both for their time in the armed services and in serving their community.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Last year's right-turn restriction pilot program created to mitigate impacts of vehicular traffic in neighborhoods instead of the highway will be extended in 2022.

With a unanimous vote Tuesday, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors approved the turn restrictions from North Upper Truckee Road and Sawmill Road on Sundays and holidays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The right-turn restrictions will be in place starting between May 1 and May 21, 2022, and terminating on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors have on their agenda Tuesday a resolution to have temporary right-turn restrictions this summer from North Upper Truckee Road and Sawmill Road onto US 50 on Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If approved, the new turn restrictions will begin between May 1 and May 21, 2022, and terminate on Sunday, October 30, 2022. All turn restriction-related traffic control regulatory and advisory signs on Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Sawmill Road, and North Upper Truckee Road would be removed before Sunday, November 6th, 2022.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Christmas Cheer, the community non-profit that helps supply food to those in need will be closed on their normal giveaway days Tuesday-Thursday.

Their offices at 1120 3rd St., South Lake Tahoe needed new flooring.

They will reopen for customers on Tuesday, March 15.

The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team (TFFT) will continue widespread prescribed fire operations this week around the Lake Tahoe Basin, weather and conditions permitting. These prescribed fires are expected to continue throughout the winter season to help land managers reduce hazardous fuels that can feed unwanted wildfires. Smoke will be present.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for one appointment to the Planning Commission to fill out a term through the end of the year.

The Douglas County Planning Commission is an advisory body to the Board of County Commissioners and is responsible for providing advice on land use planning matters, reviewing development applications for compliance with County plans/ordinances, including amendments to the Douglas County Master Plan, and the Development Code.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Temperatures will warm to start the work week with gusty winds in higher elevations of the Sierra tonight into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. A quick-moving weather slider system will bring breezy winds, a low chance for rain and snow showers, and a cool down Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. The weekend looks warm and dry with the potential to shift to a more active weather pattern next week.
