Men On Boats July 6-9 & 13-15
Ten explorers. Four boats. One Grand Canyon. Men On Boats is the true-ish history of an 1869 expedition, when a one-armed captain and a crew of foolhardy yet loyal volunteers set out to chart the course of the Colorado River.
Performed by a dynamic, nimble cast of female and nonbinary actors, this rollicking comedy skewers the American myth of man-ifest destiny and challenges conventional notions about who gets to make history.

John “Snowshoe" Thompson-carried the U.S. Mail across the Sierra Nevada Mountains (Placerville to Genoa) during the winter for 20 years. He glided across the snow with an 80-pound sack over a 180-mile route in just 5 days. Using his hand-crafted snow skates (skis) and outfitted with nothing more than a jacket, dried meat and matches, Thompson was a larger-than-life character, saving numerous lives, serving his community unwaveringly and devoted his entire life to the betterment of his fellow man/woman.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Even though many homes still have feet of snow in the front and back yards, it is never too early to be prepared for wildfire. This week is Wildfire Preparedness Week, a reminder to residents to plan ahead to ensure their safety if wildfires threaten the state in the months ahead.
It was Benjamin Franklin who said, "By failing to plan, you are preparing to fail” and Winston Churchill said, “He who fails to plan is planning to fail.” Even though quotes are from previous centuries, they are still valid today.

Winter comes back to Lake Tahoe this week
Submitted by paula on Sun, 04/30/2023 - 9:08pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Spring was nice while it lasted! A slow-moving low-pressure system will provide daily chances for a mix of rain, snow, and pellet showers this week with rain-snow lines lowering to 5500-7000 feet by Tuesday morning. A few thunderstorms will also be possible each day (20-30% chance).
Be prepared for snow showers in the Sierra. While warm road temperatures and the early May sun angle may limit accumulations on paved surfaces, bursts of heavy snow and/or snow occurring during the overnight hours could bring travel impacts to mountain passes.
