SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Heat Advisory for the Lake Tahoe Basin that will be in effect until 10 a.m. Friday, July 12.
While Lake Tahoe Basin will not be into the 100s like Western Nevada and much of California, officials are warning that the high elevation combined with low humidity and high temperatures have created the advisory. There is a prolonged period of Moderate to Major Heat Risk and heat health impacts for those sensitive to heat or those without access to effective cooling.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - After the large amount of trash left behind by the 4th of July revelers on Zephyr Shoals in 2023, all eyes were on the post-holiday beach cleanups around Lake Tahoe on July 5.
At seven beach cleanup sites coordinated by the League to Save Lake Tahoe (Keep Tahoe Blue), the total trash removed weighed in at 1,866 pounds. At Zephyr Shoals last year alone, the trash left behind on the scenic 3/4-mile beach totaled over 8,000 pounds.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) has worked on some changes to its Wildlife Wednesday programs and has recreated it as Wild Wonders Learning Series on Sundays and Wednesdays. The improvements include one of the weekly programs being family-friendly, and the other being family-friendly with specialized speakers discussing local conservation efforts and more.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After an air show at the Lake Tahoe Airport got things rolling on July 3, the Fourth of July got started with a parade and a water rescue demonstration over El Dorado Beach by the California Air National Guard's129th Rescue Wing.
What many people along the parade route said, Thursday's parade was one of the best they've ever seen in South Lake Tahoe. There were floats, kids on bikes, nonprofits, first responders, neighborhoods, businesses, and much more.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was Lake Tahoe Community College's (LTCC) largest graduation ceremony in its 49-year history with a record number of graduates celebrating their achievements.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Golf Course has retained its designation as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program. Bobby Jaeger, the superintendent, led the effort to maintain sanctuary status on this course. Lake Tahoe Golf Course was designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary in 2003 and is one of over 900 courses in the world to hold certification from Audubon International.

The South Tahoe Babe Ruth All Stars 13U team triumphed with a decisive 17-6 victory over Sparks on Saturday, securing their spot in the Babe Ruth Pacific Southwest Regionals in Bakersfield, California, July 21-27.
On Sunday, the South Tahoe Babe Ruth All Stars 14U team endured a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to Fallon, with the game decided on a walk-off double in the bottom of the tenth inning.
