If you missed the sensational perform by MacAvoy Layne in July, be sure to see it this Friday, it is not to be missed!
Chautauqua performer MacAvoy Layne will perform "An Evening with Mark Twain" at Taylor Creek Visitor Center on Friday August 7th at 7:00 p.m. This event is open to the public and is a five-dollar donation to Tahoe Heritage Foundation.
Samuel L. Clemens came to the shores of Lake Tahoe in 1861 to stake a timber claim and returned less than two years later as Mark Twain, reporter and columnist for Virginia City newspaper Territorial Enterprise. Mark Twain’s early visits to Lake Tahoe are that of adventure, tragedy, and self-discovery. Layne’s portrayal of Mark Twain is about as close as one can get to actually meeting the infamous American author.
For over twenty-five years, MacAvoy Layne has been portraying the wit and wisdom of the beloved Mark Twain. Layne is a winner of the Nevada award for Excellence in School and Library Service, and author of a soon-to-be published memoir, Becoming Mark Twain. With over five thousand performances from Leningrad University in Russia to Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City, he is a must see.
Tahoe Heritage Foundation, a non-profit that partners with the Forest Service to preserve the culture and natural history of Lake Tahoe, hosts this event at the Lake of the Sky Amphitheater. Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located approximately 3 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on the lakeside of Highway 89. The Visitor Center entrance is just past the entrance to the Tallac Historic Site and Fallen Leaf Lake Road. Dogs are permitted only on leash.
