Ski With a Ranger Program Returns to South Lake Tahoe

The U.S. Forest Service Ski with a Ranger program returns to South Lake Tahoe on Friday, January 17, 2014. Everyone in invited to join them at Heavenly Mountain Resort on Mondays and Fridays at 10 am and 1 pm. The Ski With a Ranger tours begin at the top of the gondola ad last about one hour.

Participants must be intermediate level skiers/boarders or above and provide their own lift ticket. No reservations are required; attendance is on a first-come first-served basis.

These conservation education programs are offered to educate the public about the mission and role of the Forest Service in ski area management, to improve public understanding of natural resource processes and issues, and to promote environmental literacy and stewardship. Programs are led by U.S. Forest Service Conservation Education staff and volunteers, and operate through a cooperative effort between Heavenly Mountain Resort and the City of South Lake Tahoe.

Spanish Ski with a Ranger returns March 7, 2014, with tours offered every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Both English and Spanish programs continue through April 11, 2014, weather permitting.
