Heavy snow creating hazardous conditions on area roads

8:45 a.m. update Tuesday - Highway 50 over Echo Summit is now back open. Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel / all wheel drive vehicles with snow treaded tires on all wheels. Maximum chain controls for big rigs.

Over on SR88, it is now closed from Ham's Station to 1 mile west of Woodfords. Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel / all wheel drive vehicles with snow treaded tires on all wheels from Dew Drop to Ham's Station and from 1 mile west of Woodfords to 3.5 miles east of Woodfords.

As of 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, traffic over Highway 50 over Echo Summit is being held at Meyers westbound and eastbound traffic one mile east of Twin Bridges due to snow.

Chains or snow tires are required on Highway 50 from Stateline and over Spooner Summit, state routes 28 and 89 around the lake,

SR88 and 89 south of Lake Tahoe requires chains or 4wd with snow tires on all areas except for SR88 from 3.5 miles east of Silver Lake to 1 mile west of Woodfords where it is closed (over the Carson Pass and Carson Spur).

SR89 at Emerald Bay is closed.

Mt. Rose Highway/SR407 is closed.

I80 from Colfax to the state line is closed.

Kingsbury Grade/SR237 is closed on the valley side, chains or snowtires on the lake side.
