The Nevada Highway Patrol advises Highway 395 through Washoe Valley, from SR 431 Mount Rose to Carson City will remain closed through Friday and possibly Saturday. Motorists should find alternative routes to Carson City as agencies continue to work on the fire.
NHP urges motorists to use I-80 to Fernley south to Silver Springs and then west into Carson City. Return route would be from Carson City to Silver Springs north into Fernley and back to Reno. SR 341 Virginia City and SR 431 the Mount Rose Highway are also an alternate routes, but NHP advises motorists to carry chains or use four wheel drives because of snow in the forecast.
Motorists can get road updates on closures and chain restrictions from the Nevada Department Transportation by going here. You can call 511 inside Nevada or 1-800-877-NVROADS (1-877- 687-6237).
