COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 61 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 16 are in El Dorado Hills, 9 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 17 in Greater Placerville, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 2 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 4 in North County, 2 in South County, 8 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 2. Total now awaiting address5 confirmation: 116.

Of those new cases, 6 are under the age of 18, 33 are age 18-49, 12 are aged 50-64, and 9 aged 65 or older. Awaiting age confirmation from today's county: 1. Total birthdate unknown to date: 10.

There have been another 132 assumed recoveries with 1355 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 678 negative results received. Negative test disclaimer: Whereas laboratory-confirmed case numbers reflect only El Dorado County residents, negative results may also include some non-El Dorado County residents whose tests were performed within the county. Total negative results include results for individuals who have been tested more than once. This differs from the count of total confirmed cases, as individuals who test positive on multiple occasions are only counted as a single case. For this reason, these two numbers (total confirmed cases and total negative test results) are not comparable and should not be used together to calculate a positivity rate. Only PCR or NAAT tests (tests that detect viral RNA) are included in this estimate of "Total Negative Test Results". Antigen tests and antibody (serology) tests are not included in this estimate.

There are currently 19 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 9 of them in the ICU at Barton and Marshall. According to the State's website, 3 of the non-ICU patients and 3 of the ICU patients are in Barton, with 16/6 at Marshall. There is one suspected case in the ICU at Barton. Also according to the State website, Barton has 2 available ICU beds, Marshall 3, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables.

There have been four additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 66:

- 50-64, Male from El Dorado Hills
- 65+, Female from Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, Rescue
- 65+, Male from Greater Placerville
- 65+, Male from Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, Rescue

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified abou.t the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 9.0 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 513 (-61).

We are reporting 1 additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a male Lyon County Resident in his 70’s.

We are also reporting 16 new cases and 133 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 10,641, with 6,370 recoveries and 182 deaths; 4,089 cases remain active.

In Douglas County there are currently 8 (+1) people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 2 (+0) of them in the ICU along with 0 suspected cases. 50% of ICU beds are occupied.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 56 new COVID-19 cases and 3 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 359 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 132 (-1) are in Tahoe City, 300 (+5) in Kings Beach, 51 (+2) in Olympic Valley, 65 (+1) in Truckee, 44 (+1) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 9.0 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 33.4 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 2.7 percent, 14-day increase is 9.1 percent.
