Long time South Lake Tahoe area resident and businesses owner Rick Taylor passed away on January 22, 2017 with his family by his side following a brief illness.
Taylor, 68, was a cherished husband and loving father.
Rick was born on May 24, 1948 in Long Beach, CA and was a resident of the South Shore since 1975. Taylor was the owner of South Y Fireplace since 1989.
He was a friend to everyone he met, passionate about antiques and classic cars, and truly lived life to the fullest. Once you met him and mentioned anything about cars, he would then be your best friend forever; and what a talker he was — he had that gift. Loved you all!
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Laray Taylor, son and daughter, Jackson and Lora Taylor, mother Joyce Northrup, mother-in-law Janet Schouweiler, brother Bobby Taylor, sister Tomi Lee Yee, brothers-in-law Kenny (Pam) Schouweiler and Steve Schouweiler, grandchildren, Marissa, Rachel, and Chase, nieces Jamie, Jenny, Ashley, nephews Jeremy and Zachary.
He is preceded in death by his son, Ricky Taylor and his father, Edwin Schmidt.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3 at Happy Homestead Cemetery. Friends are invited to gather at the Flight Deck immediately following.
Celebration of Life will be held at Edgewood Tahoe on March 18. Please RSVP at www.rtcelebrationoflife.com.
A YouCaring page has been set up to help the family with expenses for that event.
