The South Tahoe High School Viking Dance Team took 1st place at the Northern Nevada Cheer & Dance Invitational on Saturday February 3, 2018. Their high energy jazz dance received a standing ovation.
“It was the best thing I have seen all day,” said an observer from a competing high school.
All 26 members of this elite dance team have a rigorous schedule of early morning practices throughout the season. In addition to their formidable practice schedule, the dancers also dedicate themselves to training in various styles of dance multiple nights throughout the week.
“I couldn’t be more proud of my team for all the hard work and dedication they have put in this season," said Coach Kylee Weiss. "This team not only has a passion for dance, but school spirit and Viking pride. I have seen these kids grow up and I am honored to be their coach."
The team and Coach Kylee said they are grateful to all of the parents, STHS Athletics and the community for their support. The team’s hard work and dedication can be seen at halftime at the last two varsity basketball games Tuesday, February 6 and Saturday, February 10. The Dance Team will also be performing at Dancing with the Tahoe Stars on Saturday March 3, 2018.
